A Hometown Holiday Brings Festive Cheer to Downtown Lacon!
Get ready for a magical day in downtown Lacon! On Saturday, November 8th, the streets will come alive with music, Santa, carriage rides, shopping, crafts, and treats during A Hometown Holiday.

Get ready for a magical day in downtown Lacon! On Saturday, November 8th, the streets will come alive with music, Santa, carriage rides, shopping, crafts, and treats during A Hometown Holiday. From Thrive Fitness's Twelve Days of Fitmas to Let's Dance's holiday performance and sweet stops along the Cookie Coloring Sheet Challenge, it's a full day of small-town Christmas charm you won't want to miss.
The Lacon Chamber of Commerce invites you to kick off the Christmas season with a joyful day downtown for A Hometown Holiday, a celebration of community, giving, and holiday spirit!
🎁 Morning Kickoff
Start your morning bright and early with Twelve Days of Fitmas at Thrive Fitness.
For just $5 benefiting St. Jude Children's Hospital, join a one-hour trainer-led workout — open to all fitness levels!
Thrive will also host their Christmas party later in the day.
Next, visit Midland Elementary School Cafeteria from 9 AM – Noon for the Midland Used Book Sale, supporting the Lacon Home Journal Christmas Fund.
Stop into First National Bank of Lacon to see the Elementary Coloring Contest Display featuring local student artwork.
📚 Story Time & Performances
Families can visit the Lacon Public Library between 10 AM – Noon to write letters to Santa and enjoy story times at 10 AM and 11:30 AM.
🎶 Don't miss it!
At 10 AM, catch Let's Dance's holiday performance at the Lacon Community Center!
They'll also host free line dance lessons at 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM, open to all ages.
🎅 Santa & Carriage Rides
From 10 AM – 2 PM, downtown will be filled with festive sights and sounds — music by GST Productions and kettlecorn from Greg Kircher.
From 11 AM – 1 PM, visit Santa at 126 N. Washington Street
and enjoy free carriage rides departing from Route 17 & Washington Street.
Stop by Edward Jones – Mary Chambers for pictures with Santa's Elf and free candy canes!

Kids can join the Cookie Coloring Sheet Challenge, sponsored by the Chamber!
How it works:
- Pick up your sheet at Jim's IGA
- Visit each location during the event
- Stamp or color each spot
- Bring the completed sheet to the Chamber table in front of Sam's Flowers
🎁 Prize:
Every child receives a free Santa cookie — sponsored by Jackie Padesky - State Farm Insurance!
At the Chamber table:
